Entry number two in my "Sailor Moon Poster Project!"

When looking at Sailor Moon in contention for a Hollywood film franchise, I realized that the series lacks a concrete genre. True it has potential to be action, superhero, sci-fi, fantasy and romance films, but, it occurred to me that the series follows the formula of a horror movie perfectly. Five unsuspecting girls are thrust into a situation they don't understand, where they are hunted by monsters.

Keeping that concept as a jumping off point, I included as much black as possible in each poster, as well as using the modern city sklyline motif as often as I could.

Sailor Venus is my favorite character, so I took extra care with this, but I will admit, this is the third version of her poster I did. The first was a side profile with her eyes closed, and a serene look on her face, with a background featuring multiple "GAME OVER" screens (from the Sailor V game) but I ruined it in the painting phase. The second, which never saw paint, was a more professional, and determined looking Venus, heavily inspired by Ayaka Komatsu. With Sailor Venus, I took heavily in consideration her time as Sailor V, and her experiences operating alone. Making her much more calm and determined in expression, as opposed to the typical horror movie fear. I like the look on her face, it's so... So wonderfully reminiscient of Satine in Moulin Rouge, during "The Show Must Go On." I'm so happy that I've conveyed the willingness to do whatever is needed in her expression. Even if her face is a little distorted.

"I'll top the bill. I'll earn the kill. I have to find the will to carry on with the, on with the, on with the show..."

:)

Venus' tagline is "the PRINCESS"; inspired by her time posing as Princess Serenity, all the while searching for the Princess herself. I considered the alternative taglines "the IDOL", "the CELEBRITY", "the HERO" and "the VIGILANTE", but decided to go with a plot reference. Which do you like best?

As with all my other posters, I tried vehemently to avoid fan casting.

Please, Favorite, leave comments, and check out my other posters at the link at the bottom of the description.

"Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon" and "Codename Sailor V" are owned by Naoko Takeuchi and Toei Animation. I do not profit from this. Please support the series, it's wonderful. Even the English dub.

Okay, no.
